Did not meet my expectations. Wanted it to study different denominations - not much information.
I use the Handbook to learn about the various Denomination . The Book is accurate and I Trust it .
I upgraded from the 10th edition which I enjoyed very much; however, there have been a number of important changes which interested me. The groupings based on historical closeness puts the Community of Christ among Mormon churches rather than Restoration churches like Disciples of Christ and Church of Christ. I like that esoteric churches have been included with New Thought, although the Liberal Catholic Church is not grouped under Catholic churches. Historical closeness may not make some denominations happy being "lumped together" with another body which the editors acknowledge. But this edition includes continuing Anglican churches with Episcopalians, and other "Catholic" bodies like the American Catholic Church, Old Catholics, and Polish National Catholic Church together with the Romans and Eastern Catholics. This makes sense according to historical closeness.
Based on my scanning the "Preview" for this book, it looks like a significant improvement over the previous version that I reviewed.The earlier version lumped Mormons in with Islam and gave Islam a free pass and a promotion as if it was the greatest religion since ever.From what I can tell, this edition gives Mormons a separate category, and totally omits religions/seditious ideologies that have nothing to do with ChristianityI will update my review if and when I purchase this book after seeing other reviews.
